CIOB Extends deadline for call for evidence into construction quality

Today (30 November 2017) the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has announced that the deadline for its call for evidence into construction quality has been extended by two weeks to Friday 15 December 2017. The call for evidence, accessible at www.ciob.org/quality, comes from the CIOB’s Construction Quality Commission, set up earlier this year in response to a number of high-profile failings in construction quality both in the UK and internationally.

Tartan Construction scoop top student prize

After several grueling rounds of competition, one team emerged victorious, and that was Tartan Construction from Glasgow Caledonian University. They collected their award from immediate Past President of the CIOB, Paul Nash, at the Awards Dinner on 20 July, having beaten five other finalist teams to the award.

CIOB announces Commission of Past Presidents to investigate build quality

The Chartered Institute of Building, in light of the report into the defects that led to the closure of 17 schools in Edinburgh earlier this year and subsequent events, has announced the formation of a Commission of Past Presidents to investigate the issue of build quality in the construction industry, and what needs to be done to address it.
