CIOB Fellowship

What is CIOB Fellowship and why should you apply?

Requirements

It is required that you possess at least 5 years of experience leading an organisation, people and contributing to the industry, communities or society. Candidates must also have responsibilities that extend to working with sector stakeholders. This work must demonstrate a contribution to the wider industry or the general public and could be through industry-specific charities such as the Construction Youth Trust or the CIOB or other stakeholders such as schools, universities, communities and community groups or government agencies.

Fellowship is independently benchmarked and is comparable to a British Master’s Degree. This work has been carried out by the expert qualifications agency, UK ENIC which provides information on qualifications to governments and government authorities and education establishments across the world.

The Application Process

If you are applying to upgrade from MCIOB, you will be required to produce a 3,000 word reflective account of a project or initiative you have led, through which you can demonstrate your competence in leading people and organisations within the sector.

If you are applying directly for Fellowship, you will be required to produce an additional 3,000 word report based on a project or initiative you have led which demonstrates you meet the standards of the professional review for MCIOB.

All candidates attend a professional discussion which is called a viva voce exam, lasting approximately 1.5 hours. This exam is conducted by trained professionals, and includes 2 assessors and 1 chair. The discussion is based on your written project, as well as an interactive discussion on a topical issue affecting the industry.

Before you can move forward with your written application, you will be asked to attend a workshop via Microsoft Teams to go through the whole Fellowship process. Candidates will be charged a fee to attend the workshop. When you submit your final application, This fee will be deducted from the final Fellowship Assessment fee.
