Diploma in Construction Site Management

The Site Management qualification comprises of two qualifications; the Certificate in Construction Site Management and the Diploma in Construction Site Management.

About the Qualification

Our Diploma in Construction Site Management is designed for construction site managers working in the construction sector who are progressing into managing larger and more complex construction projects. The qualification develops the learner’s knowledge and skills to plan and programme projects, liaise with stakeholders and oversee large or complex construction projects safely and efficiently.

The Site Management qualification comprises of two qualifications; the Certificate in Construction Site Management and the Diploma in Construction Site Management.

The Diploma provides the underpinning knowledge required for the Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management. Students working in a management role would then be able to work towards the Level 6 NVQ Diploma which is acceptable as a qualification to gain the CSCS Black Card for Site Managers.

Candidates need to undertake 12 modules: Unit 4 – Managing Health, Safety, Welfare and Risk in Construction Works and all the remaining eleven units. Assessment is based on four assignments – based on real projects.

Timeframe

The expected duration of the course is two years: year one to gain the Certificate and year two for the Diploma. Although units will vary in length, a minimum of 480 guided learning hours (40 hours per unit on average) is required before the Diploma can be awarded.

The courses are run at approved centres (download the PDF list on the right) and are usually taken on a day release or outside working hours basis. There is also a distance-learning option.

New Site Management Syllabus 2020

In line with the requirements of our regulators, Ofqual, we have reviewed our qualifications specifications. The content and level of the Level 4 Certificate and Diploma in Construction Site Management has been comprehensively reviewed and the credits have been increased according to standard teaching regimes. Some units have been consolidated and it is now a three-unit Certificate and a nine-unit Diploma. There is some updated content and new content such as Organisation of the Construction Site, Construction Project Resourcing and Cost Management. The biggest changes are the removal of the Estimating and Measuring Work within a Construction Environment and the Managing Dimensional Control in Construction Works, which have been replaced by the new units above. The duration of the qualification remains the same as the old 2015 syllabus. No further registrations for the 2015 syllabus can be taken as of 31st March 2021. The certification end date is 31 December 2022.
