CIOB Code of Quality Management
Summary
In February 2017, a report was published describing the defects that led to the closure of 17 schools in Edinburgh. Just months later, in June 2017, the tragic Grenfell Tower fire took place, claiming the lives of 72 people.
It was in response to these incidents that in 2017 the Construction Quality Commission was established. The Commission, comprised of CIOB past presidents, was tasked with investigating the issue of quality in construction and the steps to be taken to resolve it. Working with CIOB members and construction organisations, the Commission has published its Code of Quality Management.
The Code of Quality Management aims to raise standards by providing the tools and processes to help in the delivery of quality on construction projects.
